USS Penumbra Sim Narrative, SD 202102.05 Introduction: . The Penumbra was still in orbit above the Kyrathian Homeworld in the Mirror Universe. The nacelle damaged by the Golem Cain's Warbird had been repaired but was untested. They had begun a "flight test" trip around the local star. . Down in the Cargo Bay they held an ancient alien antimatter fusion core called "the Heart of the Ancients" they'd retrieved from the ruins deep within the area engulfed by the Evil Vine of the Mirror Ivorez. Cmdr. Relok was attempting to determine a way to connect this powerful core to the power systems of the Penumbra, if indeed such was even possible. . The two most powerful psionics involved in the psychic battle with the Ivorez were still suffering the mental and emotional effects from that battle. LtCmdr. T'Lin had withdrawn to her quarters to meditate and unpack the emotional strain. Dr. Shadow K'Trevala was in his office in Sickbay, trying to work when he could and sitting in the darkened room when he needed time to himself. Bridge & Main Engineering: . Capt. Zak Taylor stepped out of his Ready Room and strolled towards the Command Chair. LtCol. Patterson quickly stood from that chair and called out, "Captain on the Bridge!" The various Bridge officers glanced around to acknowledge the Captain and returned to their duties. . LtCmdr. Jason Carter at the Helm commented, "She certainly feels like she's flying a bit different. Might have to take a second lap around the sun just to be sure nothing's gonna end up as a compromise." . Lt. Katarina Hawke stood at the Auxiliary Medical Station on the Bridge and Lt. Standin was at the Tactical console while LtCmdr. Denovan Hawke was elsewhere. SgtMaj. Derek Hines was at the Primary Reconnaissance Station, scanning the region trying to find the modified Romulan Warbird of the Golem Cain. He reported, "Nothing on the long-range yet."
. Zak settled into his seat and then said, "Carter, once we've rounded the star, take an elongated route back to the Kyrathian Homeworld. One that will expand our scanning range as much as possible without leaving the system yet." . LtCmdr. Tabeshk Tibris had been filling in LtJG Jackson Carshel on the discussion in the Senior Staff Briefing. Carshel groaned, "So, you're telling me Uncle Pat's gone crazy again with a crazy plan to pull a crazily impossible stunt and you want my help with messing with something that is both highly risky as well as dangerous, and you wanna add NANITES to the already chaotic chaos?!?" . Tabby grinned at him, "Yeah ... pretty much." . Carshel looked up at Tabby. "Look, I'll have to think on that. I don't like this idea at all, whatsoever, but if that's what it takes we'll have to see." The idea of creating a super computer virus, possibly using modified nanites, disturbed him. He grabbed a PADD and said, "I gotta meet up with Relok, I'm running late." He tapped his commbadge, "Jackson to Relok, I'm on my way, sorry for the delay." He headed for the Turbolift without waiting for a response. . Tabby returned to the Operations console, muttering, "He didn't like that idea." Extended Scans, Golem's Aid . Den returned to the Bridge from the side corridor. He nodded to Standin and relieved him at the Tactical console. As per the Captain's previous instructions in the Senior Staff Briefing, he set Condition Yellow, raising shields and activating the MIRAGE system. He reported, "All set." . Zak turned his chair and smirked, "Left a torpedo in the head, there, Mr. Hawke?" . Den just responded with a blank expression. Kat stood at the medical station, listening, but looked at Den with a confused expression. He just gave her the briefest of head shakes.
. Carter interrupted by responding to the Captain's orders. "Aye, sir. I'll stretch the route around the outlying satellites of the star. I'd like to test the stability of the warp field on our second lap, if that's alright." . Zak nodded even though Carter's back was to him. "That's fine. Don't overstress her yet, though, but ... let's test it out. Don't want the damn nacelle to fall off before we even find the Golem's Warbird!" He turned his chair towards his Tactical Officer. "Den, we need to scan for the Warbird ... and anybody else he's called for backup ... without being detected. We can't rush into this blindly. See what you can find." . Den looked back over his Tactical board. "Well," he began, "the Warbird's core, which we discussed, is giving off a unique signature. It's just ... having to find it. Though ...," he paused, thinking, before continuing, "If they are running into certain issues like we are ...," he paused again. "Yes!" he suddenly exclaimed, "there! Extreme range, and ... looks like two friends." . Zak nodded. "So, he did call for help." . Den responded, "They don't seem to be attacking each other, so that'd be my bet." . Zak asked, "What are they, can you tell?" . Den studied his board again, "Not yet, Captain." The ships were just barely on their long-range sensors. Detailed scans weren't possible, yet. . Patterson turned towards the Recon station. "Hines, any way we can modify some of the probes with our MIRAGE systems and send them out on our orbit around the sun?" Refractive Probes? . Hines considered a moment before answering, "Probably not as effectively as we can disguise the Penumbra ... but if he already knows we're out here somewhere, we just have to hide where the probes came from, not necessarily that they're out there."
. Kat wasn't an engineer, but she'd been Borg once, and there had been several different kinds of technology that they had assimilated. She chimed in, "What about hiding the penumbra behind a refractive shield?" . Zak turned to Kat and gave her a smile. "The MIRAGE system is much more effective than refractive shielding. It generates fully 3D holographic starfield from one side of the ship and projects it to the other. We're invisible to most sensors." . Hines continued the explanation, "That's basically what the MIRAGE system does. It's an array of holographic panels designed to refract light away from the ship. Renders us nearly invisible to visual scans, and with the polycarbonate coating on the hull, and advanced sensor defraction, it's pretty damn hard to detect on scans, too. If you wanna take a look at the specs, come on over." . Kat flushed, "Okay, okay, so no go, sheesh, it was just a thought. I won't offer them if I get my head bit off." But, she did wander over to Hines to take a look. . Hines pointed at a screen that showed the MIRAGE system. "See these arrays? They're aligned along the outer hull in a way that there's no gaps they don't conceal, with a bit of overlap." . Kat studied the display and then said, "So there's no overlap that would cause a shimmer that would give away the fact that there's something there." She paused, then asked, "What about power levels? is it giving off any power signatures?" . Hines smirked slightly. "Not nearly as much power as you'd think. It's really just camera trickery, so it uses about the same amount of power we would use if we kicked maneuvering thrusters in all at once." He pointed to some power readouts as he continued, "The trick with using it on the probe is making sure we get the right coverage. Those things are a bit more cylindrical than the Penumbra, so... might need different lenses. Different coverage, y'know?"
. Kat was intently studying the MIRAGE system and listening to Hines' speculations on the probes. She said, "Hmm, but, see, that's where the refractive shielding could come in handy," she pressed a few buttons on the console to add some speculation of her own. "Then you won't need lenses or anything to figure out how to get it to go around a more cylindrical object, because you'd be using the probe's shields and just refracting everything around them." . Hine sat back and stared in amazement a moment. "So, wait, lemme get this straight. You're talking about using the probe's shields as a sort of ... polarized lens?" He stared at her a moment more, then added, "Like a pair of sunglasses?" . Kat grinned and nodded, "Exactly! Then it's almost like it disappears using its surroundings to camouflage it by refracting the light around it. Similar to your MIRAGE system, but without using any power other than the shield already being used." . Hines considered a moment and then said, "I mean, the probes are armed with a basic deflector shielding on them ... that just might work." He tapped his commbadge, "Hines to Engineering. Sending a schematic your way. Refractive shielding on our probes, using their own deflector array. See what you can rig up when you get the chance?" Engine Rumble . Suddenly there was a rumble, coupled with an almost inaudible groan that passed through the ship. The Penumbra rounded the Kyrathian star, accelerating to full impulse as it passed. . Tabby stiffened, "I ... don't like that groaning we have going on, Carter." . LtCmdr. Bevin MacArdry, the ship's Chief Engineer, was down in the Cargo Bay with Cmdr. Relok trying to figure out the strange alien Core, but when her ship rumbled like that, she dropped what she was doing and hurried to Main Engineering. She'd do whatever it took to get rid of that strange groaning noise.
. Back on the Bridge, Patterson asked, "How's she feel, Jason?" . Carter was biting his lip slightly, but eventually he answered, "Certainly a bit heavier on that upper nacelle we rebuilt. I'm gonna have to shift the warp field's central point a couple degrees." . Tabby glanced over at him. "You know I can feel the nervousness, Carter." He gave him a cheeky grin, "Just a friendly reminder: you're flying this behemoth." . The Captain gave an audible sigh and then said, "Carter, if she's flying well enough, let's head out of the system towards the Rift and the Warbird so Den can get good scans." . Carter gave a short nod. "All right, accelerating to Warp velocity. I'll push us up to Warp 5 and see how she flies." . Patterson reflexively gripped the arms of his chair. The ship groaned and creaked as it accelerated to warp speed. It developed a noticeable wobble for a minute before Carter compensated for it. . Tabby grunted, "I really, really don't like that messed up nacelle, Carter." . Carter winced and then said, "Yeah, but ... considering we had to do it without a spacedock, I think your beloved and her team did a damn good job, Tabby." . Tabby flushed as he stammered, "Uh ... thanks." He ducked his head as though something important had come across his monitor. . Down in Engineering, Bevin grumbled but continued tweaking the engines, trying to get them to purr like drowsy kittens, even though they wanted to growl and pounce like excited puppies. . Carter turned his head and spoke over his shoulder, "Warp 5, sir. She's holding steady. Two degrees starboard by 1.5 degrees aft by 4 degrees dorsal, but ... stable." He smirked to himself, suddenly realizing that not everybody would grasp his description of the warp bubble. "Like I said, I had to adjust the warp field."
. Zak just smiled at Carter's back. He'd started his career in the Engine Room of the USS Sirocco nearly 25 years before, and served 10 years there before transferring to Operations aboard the USS Nautilus. He knew what a warp bubble should look like. "So, we have a bumpy warp field, but ... you can fly her." A Warbird and Two Aslan Battlecruisers? . Suddenly, the Captain had a frightening thought. He turned his chair towards the Tactical station again. "Den ... any way to tell if the Warbird has tried sending anything through the Rift? A small shuttle would fit, right?" . Kat frowned with worry at the Captain's question but Den just answered, "A shuttle might fit. But, I've not seen anything so far to notice they have done so as of yet." . "Good, Den," the Captain said. "We don't want that crazy Golem loose on our side of the Rift!" . Tabby spun his chair. "Captain, should I contact our Adam Android, if we can? I'm sure he'd love walking down memory lane regarding how we screw with his counterpart." Tabby was, after all, working on some kind of super computer virus modeled after the story of the Green Energy Monster that had required virtually a full rebuild and reboot of the Android back in the day. . But Den interrupted before the Captain could respond. "Okay ... this isn't good at all." He shook his head as his fingers flew over his Tactical board. . Patterson turned to look at Den but seeing the expression on his face, the Colonel stood and moved to Tactical. "Whaddya got, Den?" . Kat glanced over at her brother as well, chewing nervously on her bottom lip. A call came over her commbadge. It was Cmdr. Relok in the Cargo Bay. "Kat, do you have a minute?" . She tapped her commbadge to respond, "That depends on what it is!" But she smiled as she added, "I am on my way." She gave Hines a nod and moved towards the Turbolift.
. As the Turbolift doors slid open, Relok's voice could be heard once more, "We want to use your Borg knowledge to help us decode a language." Then the doors slid shut and Kat was away to the Cargo Bay. . Den transferred the Tactical display to the main viewer as he said, "Those are two Aslan ships with the Warbird. We can't take them on." He leaned back a moment and blew out his breath. Then he said, "Unless ... what about the Core in the Cargo Bay?" . "Two Aslan ships?" The Captain groaned, "And a modified Warbird? We're gonna get our ass kicked!" . Den responded, "Essentially what I said, Captain. Except ... what about the Core just sitting there? Can't we use that?" . Patterson rubbed his chin, "If we can figure out how it works." . Den nodded, "We don't know, yet, but ... maybe if it's connected to our systems, it will react on its own and supercharge everything, which would include shields, engines, energy-based weapons, ..." he trailed off, his point made. Super Virus . Tabby interrupted, trying to get an answer to his earlier question. "Again, Captain, should I contact our Adam Android? He has to know something that might help us." . Patterson answered Tabby first, "I don't know if we can get a message through to him, Tabby." . Zak continued the answer, "Our Adam Android is in another universe on the other side of that damn Rift! We can't contact him without going through his evil twin on this side!" . "Frick!" Tabby exclaimed and turned back to his console. . Zak then asked, "So, Tabby, how are we coming on a super deadly computer virus for that Warbird, and ... how the hell do we get it on his ship without risking Marines on a suicide mission?"
. Tabby responded, "Well, I am aware of the Green Energy Monster and various computer viruses, but what we need is something to weaken the Golem. I know of a virus that can do that, but it is biological. Could it work on artificial as well?" . Zak pondered Tabby's question before answering. " Well, I don't know if a biological virus would affect the Android, but I do know he's always claimed he was just a 'synthetic human'. That is, all of his internal organs were designed as artificial replacements to human anatomy. Maybe something could work ... or maybe not." . Patterson gazed at Tabby a moment and then said, "Considering the concept that Adam Android was designed to be as close to biological as possible ... I'd think it's likely it could work, but ... also knowing that the Ambassador can override biological functions ... I don't think it would work for very long." . Tabby continued his explanation, "The disease that my mother had, it's a biologically Vulcan disease but ... if I could somehow have it injected through a torpedo into the Warbird, it should slowly infect that entire ship. Anything biological on the warbird will rot and wither away. It will certainly slow him down for a long, long, time. Plus, it might work on the other two ships." . Patterson stepped over to the Master Systems Display at the rear of the Bridge. As he did, he signaled for Tabby to join him there. "MAX," he called the Artificial Intelligence, "pull up the calculated specifications for Golem Cain's Warbird onto the MSD, please." . MAX's face manifested on the MSD as he said, "Of course, Colonel," and the schematics of the modified Romulan Warbird used by the Golem Cain appeared on the MSD. A Plan? . Tabby stood and started for the MSD. As he did he added, "I happen to know that this Vulcan virus is contagious to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING biological, so even his fighters could be affected if they are made outta anything biological."
. Zak also stood and followed Tabby to the MSD. "Good point, Tabby. Even if we can only infect his crew, it'll disable his ability to put up a fight, right?" . Tabby responded, "It will, to a point. He may be a super computer, but he only has 2 arms and 2 legs. If he links himself to the ship, he's vulnerable to a computer virus after that." . Den turned his face as the Captain approached the MSD. "Sir?" he asked, "The core?" He repeated his comment from earlier, "Maybe if it's connected to our systems, it will react on its own and supercharge everything. Which would include shields, engines, energy-based weapons." . Zak turned to his Tactical Officer. "That's what I'm hoping for, Den. If Relok can figure out how to hook it up." . Patterson addressed Den, "I don't wanna hook up anything to our ship without knowing exactly what it is. Considering that plant down there tried to kill us, who knows if that core is corrupted with anything that'll fry our systems, or even outright take over the ship." . Zak tilted his head. "Speaking of which ...," he tapped his commbadge, "Relok, progress report, Commander." . Relok's voice responded, "We've got a monitor connected, sir. Kat is trying to help decode the language. Once we've got some idea how to talk to the thing we'll figure out how to hook it up." . Zak scowled slightly, "Acknowledged." He turned back to Den and gave a small shrug. . Tabby continued, " I'm thinking hit his crew with the Vulcan virus, then hit the ship with an EMP to fry it. After that, throw out a wormhole to further fry the ship then the Green Energy Monster to mess with him personally. An EMP should fry any failsafes he has himself, as well as his ship! Which would make him further vulnerable! It's a hell of a lot better than risking valuable crewmates!" He gave Patterson a hard, but friendly, glare.
. Zak smiled at his half-Klingon, half-Romulan Chief of Operations, "That sounds like a reasonable plan." He turned to Patterson and Den, "Think it'll work?" . Den gave a slight shrug, "It might work." Things that go "Bump" . Down on Deck 8 in Main Engineering, Bevin continued working with the engines. She'd finally balanced the warp plasma through the new nacelle and managed to get the engines back to purring like kittens they way she was used to. . Suddenly there was a huge "ting!" sound against the outer hull near the rear of the ship. It echoed through the whole ship and sent it to shivering. Up on the Bridge, on Carter's display, the helm's artificial horizon rose rapidly and he had to quickly adjust their heading. . Zak's attention immediately went to the front of the Bridge, "What the hell was that? Carter?" . Carter answered, "Um ... Captain? I think ... we lost something?" He scanned his navigational sensors. . Den also quickly checked his Tactical board. Even down in Engineering, Bevin turned sensors towards the rear of the ship. . Carter announced, "We appear to be ... dragging something, sir? MAX, can you pull up a visual from the dorsal starboard nacelle to aft, please?" That was specifically the nacelle that had been rebuilt in orbit. . The forward viewscreen switched to a rear-ward facing view. The twin dorsal nacelles extended off into the distance, mirrored by the pair beneath the ship. There, hanging in space between the two upper nacelles was a heavily damaged Workerbee construction shuttle floating along in the ship's wake. . Den stared at it and mumbled, "That is ..., well, okay then." . Hines facepalmed and said, "Well, that explains why we felt so heavy."
. In Main Engineering, Bevin scowled, grumbled under her breath, then activated a tractor beam that latched onto the damaged Workerbee and dragged it into the maintenance bay. It was empty and completely offline. There was no sign of its pilot. Cargo Bay & Sickbay: . Cmdr. Relok and LtCmdr. Bevin MacArdry were on Deck 8 in Cargo Bay One studying the ancient alien antimatter fusion core known as the Heart of the Ancients, trying to figure out a way to interface with it. . Relok glanced over at Bevin then pointed, "This might be a primary coupling port here ... I think." . "Aye," Bevin answered in her Scottish Brogue, "Ait aippairs sae." . Three decks up, in Sickbay, Dr. Shadow K'Trevala was in his office, trying to relax to let the pounding headache he still had ever since the psychic battle with the Evil Vine down on the planet. He'd taken some conventional pain medication, and drank some calming tea, but nothing seemed to be helping much. But, in spite of the headache, Shadow was a dedicated doctor and soon was back out going through his Sickbay to make sure it remained ready, in case of any emergency. . A klaxon sounded and Yellow Alert lights lit around the Cargo Bay. Both Relok and Bevin had expected that since the Captain had mentioned doing so in the Senior Staff Briefing earlier. Relok took a probe to scan the socket in the coe and carefully inserted it. "I hate probing where -- AHH!" He snatched his hand back as electrical sparks flew from the socket. The probe tool went flying across the room. He wasn't injured, exactly, but it'd given him a good zap and his muscle reflexes sent the tool flying. . "OK," Relok remarked, "So don't go poking things into random holes. That outlet might be just that, an outlet, not an inlet."
. Bevin didn't even smile. She, too, was struggling with the aftermath of the psychic battle and was uncharacteristically withdrawn, even a little grumpy. She just kept staring intently at the strange Core trying to determine which port might be for input and which for output. . Suddenly there was a rumble, coupled with an almost inaudible groan that passed through the ship. Bevin straightened, listening carefully, then let out a barely audible curse, dropped her probing tool into the toolkit and stormed out of the Cargo Bay, headed to Engineering. Fortunately, it was only a walk down the corridor on the same deck and she quickly arrived at her usual station. . Seven decks up, on the Bridge, LtJG. Jackson Carshel, a Science Department assistant, tapped his commbadge, "Jackson to Relok, I'm on my way, sorry for the delay." . Relok was staring at the exit from the Cargo Bay where Bevin had just disappeared. He tapped his commbadge and muttered, "Acknowledged," and returned his attention to the Core. Assistance . A few minutes later, Carshel came trotting into the Cargo Bay, huffing and puffing. "Hey ... Relok ... whew!" He glanced over at the ancient core dominating the bay. "This core thingy gives me the heebee-jeebees, not going to lie to you, Relok." He dropped a toolkit, which held some rather unconventional tools. . Relok almost ignored Carshel and spoke mostly to himself, "If we had some kind of display or something it would help, but ... we severed all the external connections to get it up here." Finally he turned to look at Carshel, then back to the Core where he pointed at another socket. "Hey, what about this? It's smaller and might be some kind of visual interface ... maybe." . Carshel had been on the Away Team that had retrieved the Core, and had helped cut the connections Relok was referring to. But as a result, he also had a pretty good idea of how it was supposed to be connected.
. "Hmm," Carshel muttered as he studied the Core, "I could do some hot-wiring, and maybe some rubber to encase more wires, wouldn't hurt. As for plugging it in, I have no idea. All I know is it's meant to stand vertical, obviously." . The ship gave another groan and creak. Up on the Bridge, Carter had accelerated to warp speed and the new nacelle was protesting. After a moment, though, it settled down. . Relok pointed at another potential port. "OK, so, let's plug a monitor in here and see if we can figure out anything." He readied for the connection. . "Wait," Carshel stopped him. "Shouldn't we plug it into an external device, not a part of the ship? In case it might get infected with the Vine's code?" . Relok stopped and looked at Carshel. He tilted his head. "That would probably be wise." He ensured the monitor was independent of the ship's network and then said, "OK, let's see what we see." . "Let her rip!" Carshel said enthusiastically. Then he smiled and said, "Just so you know, if something else happens to me, I blame you, Relok." Unintelligible Display . Relok simply raised an eyebrow and turned his attention to the monitor. There were readings there, but the language was totally alien and unreadable. . "Well," Carshel shrugged, "now we know. We didn't damage it. But ... what the hell does it say?" . Relok pondered the strange text a moment and then said, "Well, T'Lin is our language expert but ... the Universal Translator is a powerful learning algorithm. Let's see if we can work through a menu to let the UT get some syntax. Only problem is ...," he paused for emphasis, "we'd be pressing buttons with no idea what those buttons do. But ... unless you have another idea, it's all I've got."
. Through their mental bond forged even before they transferred to the Penumbra from the Darmok, Shadow could sense Relok's thoughts. He called to him telepathically, ~Relok, maybe you should try Kat on that language, she might have encountered it as a Borg.~ . Relok couldn't hide his emotions from Shadow, their mental bond was too deep. The excitement carried in his mental voice, ~Shayana! You're a genius! I hadn't considered that!~ . In Sickbay, Shadow gave a slight smile and retreated to his office again. Having used up he little mental energy he had restored in order to reach Relok telepathically, he laid his head on his desk to try to rebuild his psychic energy. . Without explanation to Carshel, who was oblivious to the mental conversation his superior officer had been having, Relok tapped his commbadge, "Kat, do you have a minute?" . Lt. Katarina Hawke was on the Bridge at the Auxiliary Medical Station. When the call came she tapped her commbadge to respond, "That depends on what it is!" Then she added, "I am on my way." . Relok explained, "We want to use your Borg knowledge to help us decode a language." . Kat was already in the Turbolift when she responded, "I can try to help. I'm on my way so I can see what kind of language this is." . Relok turned to Carshel, "While we wait for Kat, we can try a few menu items. I hope anything dangerous would have clear markers. That would be logical, don't you think? We'll just avoid anything that looks dangerous." . "Errm," Carshel made a face, "I dunno, Relok." . But Relok studied what he believed was a menu of sorts on the display, pressing a few buttons, watching the screen change. Nothing else seemed to happen. Help from the Borg . A moment later Kat entered the Cargo Bay. "So," she asked, "what language is it?"
. "Ah, Kat," Relok looked up. "Here, we have a monitor plugged into this core, but the language isn't one I recognize. Is there anything in the Borg database you might find familiar?" . As Kat moved to look at the language on the display, Relok's commbadge chirped and the Captain's voice came through. "Relok, progress report, Commander." . Relok tapped his commbadge and answered, "We've got a monitor connected, sir. Kat is trying to help decode the language. Once we've got some idea how to talk to the thing we'll figure out how to hook it up." . Zak scowled slightly, "Acknowledged." He turned back to Den and gave a small shrug. . Kat studied the display, cocking her head to one side as she searched her memory for anything similar. Finally, she responded, "It looks similar to a language that the Borg assimilated a century or so ago." . "Excellent!" Relok exclaimed. "Can you program the UT with that language? Maybe it can learn from that once it has a starting point." . Kat frowned slightly and then said, "I think so. Give me a moment." She started into the console, referencing the language the Borg had assimilated and applying it to the display. . As she did, they all heard ... a huge "ting!" against the outer hull that echoed through the whole ship and sent it to shivering, but it quickly settled down and everything went back to normal. . Carshel watched as the Universal Translator began slowly deciphering the display. "This tech is insanely cool, Relok!" . Relok tried to suppress his excitement. "It is ... fascinating. This thousand-year-old relic is technology more advanced in many ways than our own." . Carshel waved a hand at the Core, "I mean, just look at it! This massive thing, all that old tech from times long forgotten, and ...,"
. Kat had continued working with the UT and the display. She could feel the excitement of both Carshel and Relok, because she felt the same way. More of the strange writing was being replaced with Federation Standard. She looked up with a grin. "I think I've got it." . "YES!" Carshel exclaimed. He extended his hand and gave Kat a "high five", then turned for Relok to also give one. . The Vulcan just stared at him.
